Hebrews 5:6

Hebrews 5:6
6 just as He says also in another passage, “Thou art a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.” (NASB)

Psalm 110:4
4 The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind, “Thou art a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.” (NASB)

Here in Hebrews 5:6 the author quotes from Psalm 110:4. This verse is interpreted as a reference to the Messiah, who is believed to be a priest in the order of Melchizedek. The reference to Melchizedek in Psalm 110:4 is believed to be a way of connecting the Messiah to the priesthood of Melchizedek, which is seen as superior to the Levitical priesthood. Therefore, the Torah is used as a reference to establish the legitimacy of the Messiah’s priesthood in the order of Melchizedek. The Torah has not passed away!
