Bits of Torah Truths – Paul Used the Torah to Rebuke Sin – Episode 80

1 Corinthians 5:1

Leviticus 20:11
1 Corinthians 5:1 1 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife. (KJV)

Leviticus 20:11 11 And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. (KJV) What we note about Paul here is his calling out the Torah according to Vayikra / Leviticus 20:11 in his statement in 1 Corinthians 5:1. The point he makes is concerning fornication and incest having one’s father’s wife. Paul used the Torah to rebuke this sin basically stating that the Torah has not passed away!
