Parashat Vayetze: Yeshua is our ladder to Heaven

935

In the reading for this week, Parashat Vayetze (“and he went out”),
from Bereshit / Genesis 28:10-22, God gave Yaakov a vision of angels
ascending and descending upon a ladder at a place that is called Luz.  Reading through sefer Bereshit
(the book of Genesis) up until this point it appears that this is the first time
God has revealed Himself to Yaakov (Jacob).  The Lord reiterated the covenant He had made with his father’s
Avraham and Yitzchak (Isaac) and promises to never leave Yaakov until He has done what He has promised him.  As a
result, Yaakov calls the place he was laying “Beit-El” (Bethel) meaning the “house of God” because
God was in this place.
