Matthew 5:12

Matthew 5:12
5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. (KJV)

Here Yeshua speaks in Matthew 5:12 of being glad for persecution’s sake and of reward in heaven. We note how this is a Torah-based concept. The Torah indeed encourages gladness and rejoicing. For example, in Deuteronomy 31:6 we read, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Drawing from this verse, we find assurance that God’s presence accompanies us, even in challenging times. This knowledge can bring exceeding gladness, knowing we are never alone. This is how Yeshua summarizes the Torah Concept of being glad for persecution sake. He encourages us to find gladness in God’s presence in our lives, in His character, in hope, and in the simple gift of each day. Let us rejoice and be exceedingly glad! The Torah has not passed away!
