Bits of Torah Truths – Paul’s Midrash on Genesis 1:26-27 in 1 Cor. 15:27 – Episode 94

1 Corinthians 15:27

1 Corinthians 15:27
27 For He has put all things in subjection under His feet. But when He says, “All things are put in subjection,” it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him. (NASB)

Here in 1 Corinthians 15:27 Paul quoted from Tehillim / Psalm 8:6 which infers Bereshit / Genesis 1:26-27. Here Genesis writes that God created man and gave him dominion of everything. In our text here Paul argues how God would put all things under the Messiah which is consistent with the Torah account of the dominion of man. Note how man had forfeited this right due to sin. The Messiah who knew no sin then rightfully gains this authority.
