The phrase “Rejoice with those who rejoice” (Romans 12:15) has strong conceptual roots in the Torah, even though the Torah does not use that exact phrasing. The Torah repeatedly commands shared joy, communal celebration, and entering into the blessings of others as a covenant responsibility.

The Torah establishes a covenant culture where joy is shared, blessing is communal, and God’s goodness to one becomes joy for all. Paul’s “rejoice with those who rejoice” is simply the Torah’s communal joy ethic extended to the entire body of Messiah. This is how Paul taught Torah in the NT, the Torah has not passed away!
