Paul says in Philippians 3:16 “let us mind the same thing” which reflects a call to communal unity in thought and purpose, which finds strong conceptual parallels in the Torah. While the Torah does not use Paul’s phrasing, it repeatedly emphasizes shared covenantal mindset, collective obedience, and unified moral orientation. – Unified Covenant Commitment – Exodus 19:8 “All that the LORD has spoken we will do” is a collective affirmation of covenant terms at Sinai. Exodus 24:3 “All the words which the LORD has said we will do” is a communal consent to divine instruction. And Deuteronomy 29:10–15 states the covenant includes all present and future members which is a shared identity and responsibility across generations. These passages reflect a unified national response to God’s covenant, note Israel is not merely a collection of individuals but a people bound by shared commitment. – Shared Ethical and Spiritual Orientation – Deuteronomy 6:4–5, Leviticus 19:2, and Deuteronomy 10:12–13. These texts emphasize shared moral direction, Israel is called to “mind the same thing” in terms of holiness, love, and obedience. – Structural Parallel to Philippians 3:16 – “Unified mindset” Ex. 19:8; Deut. 6:4, “Shared rule” Ex. 24:3; Lev. 19:2, and “Communal fidelity” Deut. 29:10–15. Paul’s exhortation to “mind the same thing” is not a novel ethical demand, it echoes the Torah’s vision of a people united in covenantal thought, purpose, and obedience. This is how Paul taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
