The Torah contains themes that parallel the idea of peace ruling the heart, as seen in Colossians 3:15. In Jewish thought, peace / shalom is not just the absence of conflict but a state of harmony, completeness, and divine blessing. Note the following relevant Torah passages: Leviticus 26:6 “I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down with no one to frighten you.” This verse reflects the idea that peace is a divine gift that brings security and tranquility. Numbers 6:24-26 The Priestly Blessing asks for God’s peace, “The Lord bless you and keep you… The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.” Genesis 15:15 “You shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age.” This verse suggests that a life well-lived is one that ends in peace. We also note that peace is a fundamental principle of the Torah, so much so, the rabbis back out the concept that the world is sustained by truth, justice, and peace where the Torah is seen as a harmonizing force that brings balance to creation. This is how the NT and Paul teach Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
