Romans 14:3
14:3 The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him. (NASB)

There are Torah-based principles that parallel the second half of Romans 14:3 “Let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.” This part of the verse cautions against “judging others for their liberty,” especially in matters of food. While the Torah doesn’t frame it in exactly the same terms, it does establish a foundation of “non-condemnation,” “respect for conscience,” and “God’s prerogative to receive whom He wills.” For example, Genesis 18 – Abraham’s Hospitality – Abraham prepares a meal for the three visitors, including meat and dairy (Gen. 18:7–8). While later rabbinic tradition prohibits mixing meat and dairy, the Torah narrative shows no judgment or rebuke. This suggests that “hospitality and relationship” take precedence over dietary scruples. Leviticus 11 – Clean and Unclean Foods – The Torah clearly defines clean and unclean animals, however, it does not command “judgment of others” who may not follow these laws. Note that the focus is on “personal holiness,” not condemnation. Paul isn’t dismissing Torah dietary laws but addressing “community tensions” especially in the diaspora setting where kosher meat was hard to access. The issue was “judgmentalism,” not Torah observance. Torah itself never mandates vegetarianism, so Paul’s concern was likely with “man-made restrictions” and “social divisions,” not with the Torah commandments. This is how Paul taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
