The Torah contains several passages that emphasize self-examination before engaging in sacred rituals, which aligns with 1 Corinthians 11:28, where believers are urged to examine themselves before partaking in the Lord’s Supper which is analogous to the Passover Meal, since the Lord’s Supper was a Passover Meal. One strong parallel is found in Leviticus 23:27, which commands us to afflict our souls (often understood as self-examination and repentance) on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) before seeking atonement for sins. Another relevant passage is Exodus 12:15, where God instructs us to remove all leaven from our homes before celebrating Passover. Leaven is symbolic of sin, and this act represents a spiritual cleansing before participating in the sacred meal and speaks to personal / self-examination. Additionally, Numbers 9:6-13 discusses the importance of being ritually clean before partaking in the Passover meal, reinforcing the idea that one must be spiritually prepared before engaging in holy observances. We note this is how Paul and the NT teaches Torah, the Torah has not passed away!
