Paul taught in 1 Corinthians 14:40 “Let All things be done in decent order.” We note how the Torah emphasizes order and structure in various aspects of religious and communal life, which parallels Paul’s teachings in 1 Corinthians 14:40. Take for example the Creation Order (Genesis 1) where the structured progression of creation, from light to humanity, reflects divine order. We also find Instructions for Worship (Exodus 25-40) provide detailed guidelines for constructing the Tabernacle and performing sacrifices highlight the importance of orderly worship. In addition, the Judicial System (Deuteronomy 16:18-20) provides instruction on the appointment of judges and officials to ensure justice is carried out in an organized manner. The Lord God also has precise instructions for his people such as what we see in Numbers 2, God instructs how Israel was to camp around the Tabernacle, the specific orderly formation around the Tabernacle reinforces the theme of order. These passages suggest that order is a fundamental principle in the Torah, much like in Paul’s teachings. This is because Paul and the NT text are teaching Torah, these things speak to us telling us that the Torah has not passed away, but is a vital part of our lives as the people of God!
