This one is surprisingly rich once you trace the Torah’s honor‑ethic and its treatment of elders. Paul’s instruction: “Do not rebuke an elder harshly, but exhort him as a father.” (1 Tim 5:1) is not a new Christian social rule. It is a direct continuation of Torah’s honor‑hierarchy, its respect for age, and its relational ethics for addressing those in positions of dignity.
