Hebrews 12:6
ו כִּי אֶת אֲשֶׁר יֶאֱהַב יהוה יוֹכִיחַ, יַכְאִיב אֶת–בֵּן יִרְצֶה.״ (משלי ג׳ יא׳–יב׳)

Hebrews 12:6
6 For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, And He scourges every son whom He receives.” (NASB)

Proverbs 3:11–12
11 My son, do not reject the discipline of the Lord, Or loathe His reproof,12 For whom the Lord loves He reprove, Even as a father, the son in whom he delights. (NASB)

Here in Hebrews 12:6 the author of Hebrews quotes from Proverbs 3:11-12. This verse is based on the Torah idea that God disciplines His people as a loving father does to his children, as stated in Deuteronomy 8:5: “You shall also consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.” The Torah teaches that a father has a duty to instruct and correct his son, especially in matters of Torah and mitzvot (commandments). This is part of the father’s role as a teacher and a guide for his son’s spiritual growth. The Torah also cautions fathers to be gentle with their sons. The Torah has not passed away!
