James 2:23

James 2:23
23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God. (NASB)

Genesis 15:6–7
6 Then he believed in the Lord; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness. (NASB)

In this passage from James 2:23 we are being told how righteousness is accomplished through faith. James quotes from the Torah on Genesis 15:6 and provides a commentary on how righteous deeds are to be done in faith. The reason being is that obeying the Torah is a matter of faith and faithfulness. When one obeys Torah for any other reason than for the love for God and His holy ways, it’s not by faith. The Torah has to be not passed away!
