In this week\u2019s study from Tehillim \/ Psalms 88:1-17<\/span><\/em>, the Psalm opens saying, A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite<\/span><\/em>. Who is Ethan the Ezahite? The Psalm continues saying, 89:1 I will sing of the lovingkindness of the Lord forever; To all generations I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth. 89:2 For I have said, \u2018Lovingkindness will be built up forever; In the heavens You will establish Your faithfulness.\u2019 (NASB)<\/span><\/em> What does it mean lovingkindness will be built up forever? How does the Lord establish faithfulness in the heavens? The Lord speaks prophetically though the psalmist saying, 89:3 \u2018I have made a covenant with My chosen; I have sworn to David My servant, 89:4 I will establish your seed forever And build up your throne to all generations.\u2019 Selah. (NASB)<\/span><\/em> Why did the Lord make a covenant with David? The psalmist continues saying, 89:15 How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! O Lord, they walk in the light of Your countenance. 89:16 In Your name they rejoice all the day, And by Your righteousness they are exalted. (NASB)<\/span><\/em> What is the joyful sound? How does the Lord\u2019s righteousness exalt the children of Israel? The psalm continues saying, 89:17 For You are the glory of their strength, And by Your favor our horn is exalted. 89:18 For our shield belongs to the Lord, And our king to the Holy One of Israel. 89:19 Once You spoke in vision to Your godly ones, And said, \u2018I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.
