This is embodied especially in Moses and Abraham, and is commanded for all people to be humble, gentle, and dependent on God. Paul\u2019s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cput on meekness\u201d<\/em><\/span> (Col. 3:12) is not a new ethic; it is a continuation of Torah character formation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Torah Parallels to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cPut On Meekness\u201d<\/span> (Col. 3:12) &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Moses, The Torah\u2019s Supreme Example of Meekness. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cNow the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.\u201d<\/em><\/span> (Num. 12:3).<\/li>\n<li>Abraham, Humility and Meek Intercession. Abraham said, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cI am but dust and ashes\u201d<\/em><\/span> (Gen. 18:27).\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Israel Commanded to Walk in Meekness (Deut. 8:2\u20133), according to Deuteronomy 8:2\u20133 we are commanded to be humble among people.<\/li>\n<li>Warnings Against Pride (Deut. 8:11\u201318), God warns Israel not to become proud when they prosper.<\/li>\n<li>Meekness as Gentleness Toward Others, (Gen 13, 15) Meekness is characterized by humility and gentleness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Torah examples include &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Abraham\u2019s gentle negotiation with Lot (Gen. 13), Joseph\u2019s gentle treatment of his brothers (Gen. 45), Commands to treat the stranger, widow, orphan with compassion (Ex. 22; Deut. 10). Meekness in the Torah = gentleness toward the vulnerable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Context Synthesis &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Paul\u2019s command to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cput on meekness\u201d<\/em><\/span> is a Torah ethic reframed as a garment: Moses embodies meekness, Abraham models humble intercession, Israel is commanded to cultivate humility, Pride is forbidden, Gentleness is required in relationships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Paul is not inventing meekness, he is summarizing the Torah\u2019s character\u2011forming vision and telling believers to wear it like clothing.
