The Torah doesn\u2019t use that wording, yet it emphasizes prayer and worship animated by God\u2019s Spirit (ruach) and by wholehearted devotion rather than mechanical ritual.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Torah Parallels to \u201cPray in the Spirit\u201d &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Spirit as Divine Presence in Prayer<\/span> Numbers 11:25-29 God places His Spirit (ruach) upon the seventy elders, and they prophesy. Moses wishes <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cthat all the LORD\u2019s people were prophets, and that the LORD would put His Spirit upon them!\u201d<\/em><\/span> This anticipates prayer and speech empowered by God\u2019s Spirit.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wholehearted Prayer<\/span> Deuteronomy 6:5 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cLove the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, and might.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Prayer in the Spirit aligns with this command: devotion flowing from the innermost being, not rote words.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Spirit-Guided Intercession<\/span> Exodus 33:11\u201316 Moses speaks with God <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cface to face\u201d<\/em><\/span> and pleads for God\u2019s presence (Spirit) to remain with Israel. His prayer is inseparable from the Spirit\u2019s guidance.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ruach as Life and Breath<\/span> Genesis 2:7 God breathes into Adam the breath of life (neshamah). Prayer <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cin the Spirit\u201d<\/em><\/span> echoes this: human breath animated by divine Spirit becomes prayer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note how the NT provides a condensed synthesis:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>God\u2019s Spirit empowers speech (Num. 11),<\/li>\n<li>guides intercession (Exod. 33), and<\/li>\n<li>animates life itself (Gen. 2).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Praying in the Spirit = praying with divine empowerment, sincerity, and alignment with God\u2019s presence, this is exactly what the Torah models in Moses and Israel\u2019s encounters with God.
