In the Torah, love is tied to sincerity, covenant loyalty, and purity of motive, never self-serving or hypocritical. &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Torah Parallels to \u201cLove With a Pure Heart\u201d<\/span> &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wholehearted Love for God<\/span> (Deuteronomy 6:4\u20135) This command requires total devotion, not divided affections. Purity of heart here means undiluted loyalty to God. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Love Your Neighbor<\/span> (Leviticus 19:18) This is the Torah\u2019s central interpersonal ethic. The command assumes sincerity, love without hidden motives or exploitation. Peter\u2019s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cpure heart\u201d<\/em><\/span> echoes this demand for genuine, unfeigned love. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Love the Stranger<\/span> (Deuteronomy 10:18\u201319) This expands love beyond natural bonds. A <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cpure heart\u201d<\/em><\/span> means extending compassion without prejudice or self-interest. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Purity in Covenant Loyalty<\/span> (Deuteronomy 30:19\u201320) Love is inseparable from purity of heart, choosing God\u2019s ways over corruption or compromise. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Integrity in Justice and Relationships<\/span> (Deuteronomy 16:19; Exodus 23:8) This resonates with Peter\u2019s call to love <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201csincerely,\u201d<\/em><\/span> free from ulterior motives. The Torah parallels Peter\u2019s exhortation by commanding <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cwholehearted love for God, neighbor, and stranger,\u201d<\/em><\/span> always with sincerity and purity of motive. Where Peter speaks of love <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cfrom a pure heart,\u201d<\/em><\/span> the Torah frames love as covenant loyalty, free from hypocrisy, greed, or idolatry. Both call for love that is deep, genuine, and enduring.
