John’s command builds directly on this, extending it to the fellowship of believers in Christ. Deuteronomy 15:7–11 Care for the Poor Among Your Brothers, note that brother is expressed in tangible care and generosity which anticipates 1 John 3:17–18, which warns against closing one’s heart to a brother in need. Deuteronomy 22:1–4 Guard Your Brother’s Well-Being, brother here means active responsibility for one another’s welfare. John echoes this ethic: love is not in word only, but in deed and truth. Leviticus 25:35–36 Support Your Brother in Hardship, brother here requires sacrificial support, not exploitation. This parallels John’s insistence that love is proven in action, not sentiment. Exodus 32:27–29 Brotherhood in Covenant Loyalty, brother here is defined by shared covenant faithfulness, just as John ties love for God and love for brother together. Observe how the Torah defines “brotherly love” as rejecting hatred, caring for the poor, protecting one another, and showing loyalty to God’s covenant. John universalizes this within the church, teaching that love for God is inseparable from love for fellow believers. The ethic is continuous: the Torah plants the seed, and the NT brings it to full expression in the Messiah! This is how John taught Torah in the NT text, the Torah has not passed away!

Bits of Torah Truths – #Torah Concept in the NT: Love Your Brother – Episode 648 1 John 4:21 מִצְוָה זֹאת קִבַּלְנוּ מִמֶּנּוּ, שֶׁהָאוֹהֵב אֶת אֱלֹהִים יֹאהַב גַּם אֶת אָחִיו. #torah #torahwisdom #torahtruth #torahforlife #torah4you #torahtruth 1 John 4:21 4:21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love […]

[48,34
249,123,250,219,251
0":"post-24106","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-bits-of-torah-truths","8":"category-video","9":"tag-biblicalbrotherhood","10":"tag-covenantfaithfulness","11":"tag-loveinaction","12":"tag-messianicethics","13":"tag-torahlove
["GET
