The Torah establishes the same ethic within the covenant family of God\u2019s people. &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Torah Parallels to \u201cLove the Brotherhood\u201d<\/span> &#8211; Leviticus 19:18 Love Your Neighbor, this is the central Torah command for covenantal love. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cNeighbor\u201d<\/em><\/span> here primarily means fellow believer, the covenant community. Peter\u2019s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cbrotherhood\u201d<\/em><\/span> echoes this same covenantal solidarity. Leviticus 19:34 Love the Stranger Who Joins You, notice how brotherhood in Torah is not limited to bloodline; it extends to those who join Israel\u2019s covenant life. Deuteronomy 15:7\u201311 Care for the Poor Among Your Brothers, Israel is commanded to open their hand generously to the poor <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cwithin your gates.\u201d<\/em><\/span> This parallels the Brotherhood as expressed in the early church. (Acts 2:44\u201345) Deuteronomy 22:1\u20134 Guard Your Brother\u2019s Well-Being, the command to return lost animals or help a brother\u2019s fallen donkey show that love is active, not passive. Exodus 32:27\u201329 Covenant Loyalty Above All, even in judgment, the Levites are called <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cbrothers\u201d<\/em><\/span> who stand together for God\u2019s covenant. The Brotherhood in Torah is tied to shared loyalty to God\u2019s covenant, not just kinship. This is how Peter teaches Torah in the NT, Peter extends this to the church, the new covenant family, urging believers to show the same covenantal love to one another. The ethic of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201clove the brotherhood\u201d<\/em><\/span> is not new but a continuation of the Torah\u2019s covenantal vision, fulfilled in Christ\u2019s community.
