The Torah consistently emphasize peace (shalom), maturity, and restraint as covenantal virtues. &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Torah Parallels to Living Peaceably<\/span> &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Seek Peace and Pursue It<\/span> &#8211; Leviticus 19:18 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cYou shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge\u2026 but you shall love your neighbor as yourself.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Paul echoes this in Romans 12:18\u201321 (overcome evil with good). &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Avoid Strife<\/span> &#8211; Genesis 13:8\u20139 Abram and Lot, this Parallels Paul\u2019s call to maturity, sometimes peace requires letting go of personal claims. &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Guard Speech<\/span> &#8211; Leviticus 19:16 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cYou shall not go about as a talebearer among your people.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Paul\u2019s ethic of maturity (1 Cor. 13:11) includes controlling speech for edification. &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Pursue Communal Unity<\/span> &#8211; Numbers 6:24\u201326 The Priestly Blessing, Paul\u2019s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cas much as depends on you\u201d<\/em><\/span> echoes this divine desire for wholeness. &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Restrain Anger and Violence<\/span> &#8211; Deuteronomy 19:11\u201313 Laws against murder and vengeance. This is a peace-preserving mechanism, anticipating Paul\u2019s call to leave vengeance to God (Romans 12:19). &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Maturity in Responsibility<\/span> &#8211; Deuteronomy 6:6\u20137 Parents are to teach children diligently. Paul\u2019s <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cwhen I became a man, I put away childish things\u201d<\/em><\/span> resonates with this covenantal expectation of maturity. The Torah Principle is that Peace is preserved through love, restraint, humility, and maturity. Paul\u2019s Application is that Believers are to embody these Torah-rooted values in Messiah, living peaceably, avoiding strife, and growing into spiritual adulthood. Both the Torah and Paul converge on the same ethic, shalom is the fruit of covenantal maturity.
