The Five Books of Moses consistently portray envy as a destructive force that undermines covenantal relationships, disrupts community, and leads to sin. &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Torah Parallels to \u201cNot Walking in Envy\u201d<\/span> &#8211; Cain and Abel (Genesis 4:1\u20138), Sarah and Hagar (Genesis 16:1\u20136), Rachel and Leah (Genesis 30:1), Joseph and His Brothers (Genesis 37:3\u201311), Korah\u2019s Rebellion (Numbers 16:1\u20133), and The Tenth Commandment (Exodus 20:17; Deuteronomy 5:21) <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cYou shall not covet your neighbor\u2019s house\u2026wife\u2026or anything that belongs to your neighbor.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Notice how the Torah repeatedly shows envy as a catalyst for sin (Cain, Joseph\u2019s brothers). A disrupter of relationships (Sarah\/Hagar, Rachel\/Leah). A challenge to God\u2019s order (Korah). The antidote is contentment, gratitude, and love of neighbor (Leviticus 19:18: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cYou shall love your neighbor as yourself\u201d<\/em><\/span>). Paul\u2019s exhortation in Galatians 5:26 is not a new ethic but a continuation of Torah\u2019s moral foundation, reframed in the Spirit-led community of Messiah.
