Paul is exhorting believers not to live in promiscuity or casual sexual indulgence. Notice how the Torah repeatedly sets boundaries against this very lifestyle. &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Torah Parallels to \u201cNot Walking in Chambering\u201d<\/span> &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Connection to Romans 13:13<\/span> &#8211; Genesis 19:4\u201311 The Men of Sodom sought to violate Lot\u2019s guests which is a vivid example of Sexual immorality and shamelessness, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cchambering\u201d<\/em><\/span> as unrestrained lust leads to judgment. Genesis 34:1\u20137 Shechem defiles Dinah, the Torah frames this as a disgraceful act, paralleling Paul\u2019s warning against casual sexual sin. Exodus 20:14 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cYou shall not commit adultery.\u201d<\/em><\/span> The 7th commandment directly forbids sexual immorality, the essence of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cchambering.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Leviticus 18:1\u201330 The Torah sets strict boundaries against sexual immorality, defining it as defilement of the land. Laws against incest, adultery, homosexuality, and bestiality. Leviticus 19:29 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cDo not profane your daughter to make her a harlot, lest the land fall into harlotry.\u201d<\/em><\/span> This is a Warning against prostitution which directly addresses wanton sexual practices. Numbers 25:1\u20133 Remember Israel\u2019s harlotry with Moabite women at Baal Peor and how Sexual immorality is tied to idolatry. Deuteronomy 22:13\u201330 Laws on sexual purity (rape, adultery, fornication), the Torah legislates against sexual misconduct, reinforcing Paul\u2019s ethic. Paul\u2019s warning in Romans 13:13 is Torah-centered: he\u2019s not inventing a new ethic but reaffirming the covenantal call to holiness. Torah already condemned <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cchambering\u201d<\/em><\/span> as destructive to both individuals and the community.
