While the Greek word parakale\u014d (\u03c0\u03b1\u03c1\u03b1\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03ad\u03c9) in Hebrews implies urging, encouraging, and comforting, the Torah embeds this concept in covenantal responsibility, communal accountability, and moral exhortation. &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Torah Parallels to Exhort One Another<\/span> &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rebuke as Covenant Love<\/span> \u2014 Leviticus 19:17 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cYou shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him.\u201d<\/em><\/span> The Hebrew \u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05db\u05b5\u05d7\u05b7 \u05ea\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05db\u05b4\u05d9\u05d7\u05b7 implies a double imperative: rebuke with clarity and purpose. This is not condemnation, but loving exhortation to prevent sin and restore righteousness. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Communal Responsibility<\/span> \u2014 Numbers 16 (Korah\u2019s Rebellion) Moses and Aaron plead with the people to separate from the rebels, warning them of impending judgment. Their exhortation is urgent, corrective, and rooted in preserving covenant integrity. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Encouragement in Leadership<\/span> \u2014 Deuteronomy 1:38 <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cEncourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.\u201d<\/span><\/em> God commands Moses to strengthen Joshua, this models spiritual encouragement as a leadership duty. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Call to Choose Life<\/span> \u2014 Deuteronomy 30:19\u201320 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201c\u2026I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/span> Moses exhorts the people to make covenantal choices, not passively, but with urgency and clarity. This is a national-level exhortation rooted in love and destiny. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Public Torah Reading<\/span> \u2014 Deuteronomy 31:12\u201313 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201c\u2026Gather the people\u2026that they may hear and learn\u2026and observe to do all the words of this law.\u201d<\/em><\/span> The communal reading of Torah is itself an act of exhortation, reminding, urging, and aligning the people with God\u2019s commands. Hebrews 10:25 urges believers to exhort one another <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cas you see the Day approaching.\u201d<\/em><\/span> We note that in both the NT and the Torah the exhortation is not optional, it\u2019s a sacred duty rooted in love, truth, and covenant fidelity.
