Deuteronomy 30:19\u201320 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201c&#8230;choose life, that you and your descendants may live, by loving the Lord your God, obeying His voice, and holding fast to Him.\u201d<\/em><\/span> The call to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201chold fast\u201d<\/em><\/span> to God is framed as a life-or-death covenant choice. It\u2019s not just belief; it\u2019s a confession lived out in obedience and love. Exodus 19:5\u20136 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cNow therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My treasured possession&#8230;\u201d<\/em><\/span> This is the moment of Israel\u2019s national confession of faith. They are invited to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201chold fast\u201d<\/em><\/span> to the covenant, which defines their identity, just as Hebrews calls believers to hold fast to their confession. Numbers 14:6\u20139 Joshua and Caleb urge Israel not to rebel, saying: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cIf the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land&#8230; Only do not rebel&#8230; and the Lord is with us.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Their bold confession of trust in God, despite opposition, mirrors the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cwithout wavering\u201d<\/em><\/span> aspect of Hebrews 10:23. It\u2019s a public stand rooted in covenant faithfulness. These Torah passages show that <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cholding fast\u201d<\/em><\/span> is not just a NT idea, it\u2019s deeply rooted in the covenantal language of Moses. It\u2019s about loyalty, public allegiance, and trust in the faithfulness of God.
