(NASB) <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/category\/bits-of-torah-truths\/ \">https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/category\/bits-of-torah-truths\/ <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul\u2019s exhortation in 2 Corinthians 7:1 to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201ccleanse ourselves from all filthiness of body and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God\u201d<\/em><\/span> draws deeply from Torah themes of ritual purity, moral holiness, and covenantal separation. While the phrase <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cfilthiness of spirit\u201d<\/em><\/span> is more explicit in the New Testament, the Torah lays the foundation for both physical and spiritual cleansing. Leviticus 11\u201315 \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Laws of Ritual Purity<\/span>, these chapters detail how physical defilement occurs, through contact with dead bodies, bodily discharges, skin diseases, and unclean animals. Though physical, these laws symbolized deeper spiritual truths, God\u2019s people must be holy in every dimension. Exodus 19:10\u201315 \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Preparation for Sinai<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cSanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Before encountering God, Israel had to cleanse themselves physically and spiritually. Paul\u2019s call to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cperfect holiness in the fear of God\u201d<\/em><\/span> echoes this reverent preparation. Leviticus 16 \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Day of Atonement<\/span>, the high priest made atonement for the sanctuary, the people, and himself. The ritual addressed both external impurity and internal sin. Deuteronomy 23:9\u201314 \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Camp Purity<\/span>, Keep the camp holy by removing physical defilement and maintaining moral discipline. <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cFor the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp\u2026 therefore your camp shall be holy.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Paul\u2019s language in 2 Corinthians 7:1 is steeped in Torah imagery: the idea that holiness isn\u2019t just moral, it\u2019s embodied, communal, and reverent. His call to cleanse both body and spirit is a New Covenant echo of the Torah\u2019s holistic vision of purity.
