Numbers 14:1\u201337 \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Rebellion After the Spy Report<\/span>, after hearing the spies\u2019 fearful report, the people wept, complained, and said, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cWould that we had died in Egypt!\u201d<\/em><\/span> They accused God of bringing them to die and even proposed choosing a new leader to return to Egypt. God declared that the entire generation (except Caleb and Joshua) would die in the wilderness. Exodus 16:2\u20133 \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Complaining About Food<\/span>, just weeks after the Red Sea miracle, Israel grumbled about hunger. God provided manna, but the murmuring revealed a lack of trust. Numbers 16:41\u201349 \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">After Korah\u2019s Rebellion<\/span>, the day after Korah and his followers were judged, the people murmured again: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cYou have killed the people of the Lord.\u201d<\/em><\/span> A plague broke out, and 14,700 died before Aaron interceded with incense. Exodus 17:1\u20137 \u2013 Water at Massah and Meribah, The people quarreled with Moses over water. saying <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cIs the Lord among us or not?\u201d<\/em><\/span> The place was named <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cMassah\u201d<\/em><\/span> (testing) and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cMeribah\u201d<\/em><\/span> (quarreling) and later cited in Deuteronomy 6:16 as a warning. Paul\u2019s use of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cdestroyed by the destroyer\u201d<\/em><\/span> likely refers to the plague in Numbers 16, where divine judgment came swiftly after murmuring. The Greek term used implies a supernatural agent of judgment, echoing the Torah\u2019s portrayal of God\u2019s holiness being violated by communal rebellion.
