(NASB) <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/category\/bits-of-torah-truths\/ \">https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/category\/bits-of-torah-truths\/ <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Romans 14:19\u2019s call to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cfollow after the things which make for peace and the things wherewith one may edify another\u201d<\/em><\/span> finds strong thematic resonance in the Torah. The Torah consistently emphasizes building others up spiritually, communally, and ethically. &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Building Community Through Words and Deeds<\/span> &#8211; Leviticus 19:18 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cLove your neighbor as yourself.\u201d<\/em><\/span> This is the cornerstone of mutual edification, acting in ways that uplift others. Exodus 23:1\u20132 Prohibitions against gossip and false witness protect communal integrity. Speaking truth builds trust and unity. Deuteronomy 6:7 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cTeach them diligently to your children.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Instruction in Torah is itself an act of edification, passing on wisdom and strengthening future generations. &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Encouraging Growth Through Justice and Mercy<\/span> &#8211; Deuteronomy 15:7\u20138 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cOpen your hand to the poor.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Supporting others materially is a form of edification, helping them stand and thrive. Exodus 22:21\u201324 Protecting the vulnerable (strangers, widows, orphans) reinforces a society built on compassion and moral strength. For <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Leadership That Builds Rather Than Destroys<\/span> &#8211; See Numbers 11:16-17 and Exodus 18:17-23. For <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Spiritual Construction as a Collective Mission<\/span> &#8211; See Exodus 25-40 and Genesis 28:3. Notice how Paul\u2019s exhortation is consistent with all of these Torah references which call us to pursue edification which aligns with the Torah\u2019s vision of a society built on mutual responsibility, ethical speech, and spiritual instruction. In both traditions, edification isn\u2019t abstract, it is embodied in how we teach, lead, speak, and serve.
