This is a motif of spiritual attentiveness and discernment which is deeply rooted in the Hebrew Scriptures, especially in the poetic and prophetic language of Moses and the prophets. 1. Deuteronomy 32:1 &#8211; Moses\u2019 Haazinu Poem &#8211; <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cGive ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and let the earth hear the words of my mouth.\u201d<\/em><\/span> This poetic invocation mirrors the call to spiritual attentiveness. Moses is calling upon heaven and earth as witnesses to hear divine instruction, paralleling Revelation\u2019s call to the churches to heed the Spirit\u2019s voice. 2. Exodus 19:5 &#8211; Covenant Listening &#8211; <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cNow therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/span> The double verb \u05e9\u05b8\u05c1\u05de\u05d5\u05b9\u05e2\u05b7 \u05ea\u05b4\u05bc\u05e9\u05b0\u05c1\u05de\u05b0\u05e2\u05d5\u05bc <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cSurely listen\u201d<\/em><\/span> intensifies the command to listen with obedience, not just auditory reception. This anticipates the Revelation theme: hearing must lead to action and living. 3. Isaiah 6:9\u201310 &#8211; Hearing but Not Understanding &#8211; <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cHear indeed, but do not understand; see indeed, but do not perceive.\u201d<\/em> <\/span>This prophetic lament about spiritual deafness is echoed in Jesus\u2019 use of the phrase in the Gospels and Revelation. It warns of hardened hearts and the need for divine intervention to truly hear. 4. Deuteronomy 29:4 This verse directly connects the faculties of hearing, seeing, and understanding to divine enablement. Revelation\u2019s repeated call is a spiritual echo of this Torah insight. The Torah doesn\u2019t just speak of physical hearing, it emphasizes <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201ccovenantal listening\u201d<\/em><\/span> which is hearing that leads to obedience, transformation, and alignment with God\u2019s will. Revelation\u2019s phrase is a Torah call to obedience.
