(NASB) <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/category\/bits-of-torah-truths\/ \">https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/category\/bits-of-torah-truths\/ <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Torah lays the foundation for what John is saying, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cLet Eternal life abide in you\u201d<\/em><\/span> (1 John 2:24-25) The Torah concept of abiding in divine life through covenantal obedience and communion is the source for John\u2019s exhortation. Abiding in What Was Heard from the Beginning: Note the following, Deuteronomy 6:6\u20139 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cThese words\u2026 shall be on your heart\u2026 you shall teach them diligently to your children\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/span> Deuteronomy 11:18\u201321 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cLay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul\u2026 that your days may be multiplied\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/span> and Exodus 19:5\u20136 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cIf you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant\u2026 you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/span> These things describe how the Torah emphasizes internalizing and abiding in God\u2019s word as the path to covenantal life and blessing. The Promise of Life Through Obedience: In Leviticus 18:5 we read <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cYou shall therefore keep My statutes\u2026 which if a man does, he shall live by them.\u201d<\/em><\/span> In Deuteronomy 30:19\u201320 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cChoose life\u2026 by loving the Lord your God, obeying His voice, and holding fast to Him.\u201d<\/em><\/span> And in Genesis 3:22 the Tree of Life is withheld after sin, implying that eternal life was once accessible through obedience. Note how <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cLife\u201d<\/em><\/span> in Torah is often physical and communal, but it also hints at ongoing covenantal vitality, a precursor to John&#8217;s idea of eternal life. Dwelling with God \/ God Dwelling in You: Exodus 25:8 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cLet them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Leviticus 26:11\u201312<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em> \u201cI will set My tabernacle among you\u2026 I will walk among you and be your God.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Deuteronomy 30:14 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cThe word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.\u201d<\/em><\/span> Note how the Torah\u2019s vision of God dwelling among His people mirrors what John is saying. John\u2019s call to let eternal life abide in you echoes the Torah\u2019s invitation to internalize God\u2019s word, walk in covenantal obedience, and dwell in divine presence.
