Here are some parallels – Wisdom and Understanding as Divine Gifts: In Exodus 31:3 we are told how Bezalel is empowered to build the Tabernacle not just with skill, but with wisdom and understanding which are gifts from God meant to be expressed through craftsmanship. Deuteronomy 4:6 is an exhortation on obedience to God’s statutes as a demonstration of wisdom which is visible and admirable to others. Wisdom Expressed Through Action: In Genesis 41:39–40 we learn that Joseph’s wisdom is proven through his interpretation of dreams and his strategic planning and not just intellect, but practical leadership, a gift from God. In Exodus 18:21 Jethro advises Moshe to appoint God fearing men which is again wisdom, which is recognized through character and conduct, especially in leadership. Meekness and Humility in Wisdom: In Numbers 12:3 we are told about the meekness of Moshe who is the quintessential Torah teacher, who embodies humility — a trait James links directly to true wisdom. In Deuteronomy 17:18–20 we read how the king must write a copy of the Torah and read it daily “so that his heart may not be lifted above his brothers.” This demonstrates that even the highest leader is called to humility through continual engagement with divine wisdom. We note how James’ exhortation isn’t just a NT ethic, it is a continuation of the Torah’s vision that wisdom is not self-proclaimed, but revealed through righteous living, humility, and service. This is how the NT and James taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!

Bits of Torah Truths – Torah Concept in the NT: Let the Wise Demonstrate Wisdom and Knowledge – Episode 565 James 3:13 מִי בָּכֶם חָכָם וְנָבוֹן? יַרְאֶה נָא מִתּוֹךְ הִתְנַהֲגוּתוֹ הַטּוֹבָה אֶת מַעֲשָׂיו הַנַּעֲשִׂים בַּעֲנָוָה וְחָכְמָה. #torah #torahwisdom #torahtruth #torahforlife #torah4you #torahtruth James 3:13 3:13 Who among you is wise and understanding?
