We note the Torah emphasizes orderly worship and the importance of clear communication in sacred settings, which aligns with 1 Corinthians 14:28. While the Torah does not directly address speaking in tongues, it does highlight principles that parallel the idea of silence when understanding is lacking. For example, in Exodus 4:10-12 Moses expresses concern about his ability to speak eloquently, and God reassures him that He will guide his speech. This reflects the idea that speech should be purposeful and divinely guided. In Leviticus 10:1-3 Nadab and Abihu offer unauthorized fire before God and are punished, illustrating the importance of proper conduct in worship. In Numbers 12:6-8 God speaks about how He communicates clearly with Moses, contrasting this with visions and dreams given to others. This highlights the value of understanding in divine communication. These passages reinforce the idea that worship should be orderly, meaningful, and respectful, much like Paul’s instructions in 1 Corinthians 14:28. This is how Paul and the NT text taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!

Bits of Torah Truths – Torah Concept in the NT: Being Silent and Speaking in Tongues – Episode 527 1 Corinthians 14:28 אַךְ אִם אֵין מְפָרֵשׁ, יַחֲרִישׁוּ בַּקְּהִלָּה וִידַבְּרוּ לְעַצְמָם וְלֵאלֹהִים. #torah #torahwisdom #torahtruth #torahforlife #torah4you #torahtruth 1 Corinthians 14:28 14:28 but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God.
