Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. (NASB)

https://www.matsati.com/index.php/category/bits-of-torah-truths/

In Romans 12:9 we are told to have genuine love without hypocrisy. The Torah does in fact have many parallels that stress the importance of true, heartfelt love and kindness. For example, Leviticus 19:18 “Love your neighbor as yourself” is one of the strongest parallels to Romans 12:9, highlighting that love must be genuine and deeply rooted in mutual respect and care. Deuteronomy 10:19 “You shall love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt” also repeats the command of love toward others, especially those who are vulnerable. The idea here is that love should come from an authentic understanding and compassion, not merely an obligation. In Genesis 45:15 when Joseph reconciles with his brothers after years of estrangement, he expresses true, heartfelt forgiveness. This is a powerful example of genuine love overcoming resentment and past wounds. And in Exodus 23:4-5 we read about our enemy struggling (like their donkey collapsing under a load), and we are commanded to help them. This teaches that true love isn’t selective or based on personal gain, it extends to all, even those with whom you might have conflict. Throughout the Torah, the theme of sincere, action-driven love appears frequently, reinforcing the idea that love is not just a feeling but something expressed through genuine deeds. This is how the NT teaches Torah, the Torah has not passed away!

Bits of Torah Truths – Torah Concept in the NT: Let Love Be Genuine – Episode 492 Romans 12:9 תְּהֵא אַהֲבַתְכֶם לְלֹא הַעֲמָדַת פָּנִים. שִׂנְאוּ אֶת הָרַע וְדִבְקוּ בַּטּוֹב. #torah #torahwisdom #torahtruth #torahforlife #torah4you #torahtruth Romans 12:9 12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy.
