The Torah emphasizes the importance of purity, both ritually and morally, and provides numerous instructions on how we are to maintain purity in our lives. According to Leviticus 19:2, the verse establishes the principle that we are to be holy (pure) because God is holy. Holiness in this context encompasses moral purity, ethical behavior, and adherence to God’s commandments. Leviticus 11:44-45 highlights the need for purity from the sense of what we bring into our bodies. We are instructed to avoid defiling ourselves by consuming unclean animals, which serves as a tangible expression of our commitment to God’s holiness. Deuteronomy 23:14 emphasizes the need for moral purity within the community, as God’s presence among His people demands that they maintain a high standard of holiness. And Leviticus 18:30 provides a general description of avoiding practices that are an admonition to God and that defile, underscoring the importance of maintaining purity in accordance with God’s commands. These select passages collectively highlight the Torah’s emphasis on purity being an important part in our relationship with God. Just as 1 Timothy 5:22 calls for maintaining purity, the Torah provides foundational principles and specific instructions to help us understand what it means to live in a way that reflects God’s holiness. This is how Paul and the NT taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!

Bits of Torah Truths – Torah Concept in the NT: Keep Yourself Pure – Episode 470 #torah #torahwisdom #torahtruth #torahforlife #torah4you #torahtruth 1 Timothy 5:22 5:22 Do not lay hands upon anyone too hastily and thereby share responsibility for the sins of others; keep yourself free from sin.
