The principle of treating others with respect and dignity is deeply woven into the fabric of the Torah’s teachings. One of the central commandments that reflects this concept is the instruction to “love your neighbor as yourself” found in Leviticus 19:18, “You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.” This commandment emphasizes the importance of extending love, respect, and consideration to others, treating them with the same regard we have for ourselves. Another significant parallel can be found in the command to care for strangers and sojourners. Leviticus 19:33-34 states, “When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not wrong him. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.” This directive highlights the importance of honoring and respecting those who are different from us, ensuring that they are treated with kindness and fairness. The commands to pursue justice and fairness (Deuteronomy 16:20) further emphasizes this concept. Notice how these teachings in the Torah align closely with the exhortation in Romans 12:10. This is how the NT and Paul taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!

Bits of Torah Truths – Torah Concept in the NT: Honor Others – Episode 464 #torah #torahwisdom #torahtruth #torahforlife #torah4you #torahtruth Romans 12:10 12:10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; (NASB) https://www.matsati.com/index.php/category/bits-of-torah-truths Romans 12:10 אֶהֱבוּ אִישׁ אֶת רֵעֵהוּ בְּאַהֲבַת אַחִים כֵּנָה. הַקְדִּימוּ לִנְהֹג כָּבוֹד אִישׁ בְּרֵעֵהוּ.
