We note the narrative of Rebekah and Jacob in Genesis 27 demonstrates the deep bond and respect between mother and child. Jacob&#8217;s obedience to his mother Rebekah&#8217;s instructions, despite the complexities involved, reflects a profound level of respect and consideration for her guidance and authority. Similarly, in Genesis 21, Sarah&#8217;s role in advocating for the future of her son Isaac underscores the significance of maternal influence and care within the family structure. We also remember the Ten Commandments which explicitly states to honor both father and mother (Exodus\u00a020:12) and the reiteration of the command in Deuteronomy\u00a05:16. We note how the Torah contains various narratives and laws that highlight the importance of honoring mothers. Another example is from Leviticus 19:3, we are instructed, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;Each of you must respect your mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the Lord your God.&#8221;<\/em><\/span> This directive places respect for mothers alongside the observance of holy practices, indicating the high regard in which maternal respect is held within the covenant community. These examples from the Torah provide a foundational basis for the NT teaching in the subject.
