While the Torah does not have a direct parallel to this specific teaching, there are similar principles about generosity, kindness, and going above and beyond in one’s actions when we look at the patriarchs and matriarchs. One example is found in Genesis 24:19, where Rebekah offers to draw water not only for Abraham’s servant but also for his camels. This act of hospitality and going beyond what was asked of her is a reflection of the spirit of going the extra mile. In addition to this, the Torah emphasizes the importance of loving one’s neighbor and treating others with kindness and respect. Leviticus 19:18 instructs, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” which encompasses the idea of going beyond minimal requirements to help and support others. While the cultural and historical contexts may differ, the underlying principle of exceeding expectations in acts of kindness and service can be seen in both the Torah and the teachings of Yeshua. This is how Yeshua taught Torah, the Torah has not passed away!

Bits of Torah Truths – Torah Concept in the NT: Go Two Miles – Episode 436 Matthew 5:41 5:41 “Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two.
