The Torah emphasizes the pursuit of peace (shalom) as a fundamental principle of life and community. For example, Leviticus 26:6 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;And I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down with no one to frighten you.&#8221;<\/em><\/span> This verse highlights the importance of peace as a divine blessing and a state of security and tranquility. Deuteronomy\u00a020:10\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace.&#8221;<\/em><\/span> This commandment encourages seeking peace even in times of conflict, promoting reconciliation and harmony. Because the Torah promotes peace, David wrote in Psalm\u00a029:11\u00a0and\u00a034:14\u00a0to be proactive in our pursuit of peace, urging individuals to turn away from wrongdoing and actively seek harmony. And to acknowledge God&#8217;s role in providing peace to those who follow His ways. Note also what Isaiah says according to Isaiah\u00a032:17\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness, and assurance forever.&#8221;<\/em><\/span> This passage links righteousness with peace, suggesting that living a just and moral life leads to a peaceful existence. These Torah passages reflect the same core message found in the NT on pursuing peace, turning away from sin, and living a righteous life. The concept of peace in both the Torah and the NT is deeply intertwined with justice and righteousness.
