Godliness involves living a life that reflects the character and nature of God, embodying qualities such as holiness, righteousness, and devotion to God&#8217;s will. In the Torah, numerous passages emphasize these principles. One notable example is from Leviticus 19:2 <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy.&#8221;<\/em><\/span> This verse commands the Israelites to be holy because God is holy, which aligns closely with the NT call to godliness. The Hebrew word for holy,\u05e7\u05b8\u05d3\u05d5\u05b9\u05e9\u05c1 signifies being set apart and dedicated to God, reflecting purity and moral excellence. In addition, Deuteronomy\u00a010:12-13 outlines the requirements for living a godly life: fearing God, walking in His ways, loving Him, serving Him wholeheartedly, and keeping His commandments. These instructions encapsulate the essence of godliness\u2014living in reverence and obedience to God. In summary, the Torah&#8217;s teachings on holiness and wholehearted devotion to God parallel the NT call to follow godliness. Both emphasize a life dedicated to reflecting God&#8217;s character through obedience, holiness, and sincere devotion.
