{"id":2224,"date":"2013-04-21T12:08:28","date_gmt":"2013-04-21T12:08:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.matsati.com\/?p=2224"},"modified":"2013-04-21T12:08:28","modified_gmt":"2013-04-21T12:08:28","slug":"bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-emor-walking-in-purity-before-our-god-in-the-midst-of-atonement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-emor-walking-in-purity-before-our-god-in-the-midst-of-atonement\/","title":{"rendered":"Bits of Torah Truths, Parashat Emor, Walking in Purity before our God in the midst of Atonement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week reading is from Parashat Emor (<em>Vayikra \/ Leviticus 21:1-24:23<\/em>); the Lord tells Moshe to speak to the Priests about the sons of Aaron to be careful not to defile themselves by touching a dead person among his people.\u00a0 Scripture also says <em>21:5 \u2018They shall not make any baldness on their heads, nor shave off the edges of their beards, nor make any cuts in their flesh.\u00a0 21:6 \u2018They shall be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God, for they present the offerings by fire to the Lord, the food of their God; so they shall be holy. (NASB)<\/em>\u00a0 Shaving baldness on one\u2019s head, rounding the edges of one\u2019s beards, or making cuts in one\u2019s flesh make one unclean (impure) before God like one becoming unclean by reason of touching the dead.\u00a0 The Lord also says the Priests are not to take a woman who has profaned herself as a prostitute and not to take a woman who is divorced from her husband (<em>21:7<\/em>).\u00a0 The daughter that profanes herself by prostitution, she profanes her father by doing so (<em>21:9<\/em>).\u00a0 The priest that is anointed with oil shall not tear his cloths, uncover his head, or defile himself by a dead person, not even his nearest relative (<em>21:11<\/em>), the priest is not to leave the sanctuary or profane the sanctuary in any way (<em>21:12<\/em>).\u00a0 The Priest that approaches any of the holy things in his uncleanness will be cut off from before the Lord (<em>22:3<\/em>).\u00a0 In addition to this, the Scriptures\u00a0 (<em>Vayikra \/ Leviticus 22:10-15<\/em>) describe who may and may not eat of the holy gifts.\u00a0 We are also told that the animals brought for an offering before the Lord are to be perfect and without defect (<em>22:18-25<\/em>).\u00a0 In addition to this, the Lord says to keep His commandments so that one does not profane the name of the Lord (22:31-32).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05db\u05ea\u05d1\u05d9 \u05d4\u05e7\u05d5\u05d3\u05e9 \/ The Holy Scriptures<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: right;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05e1\u05e4\u05e8 \u05d5\u05d9\u05e7\u05e8\u05d0 \u05e4\u05e8\u05e7 \u05db\u05d2<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> \u05db\u05d6\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d0\u05b7\u05da\u05b0 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b6\u05e2\u05b8\u05e9\u05b9\u05d5\u05b9\u05e8 \u05dc\u05b7\u05d7\u05b9\u05d3\u05b6\u05e9\u05c1 \u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b0\u05d1\u05b4\u05d9\u05e2\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d4\u05b7\u05d6\u05bc\u05b6\u05d4 \u05d9\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05e4\u05bc\u05bb\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05d4\u05d5\u05bc\u05d0 \u05de\u05b4\u05e7\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0-\u05e7\u05b9\u05d3\u05b6\u05e9\u05c1 \u05d9\u05b4\u05d4\u05b0\u05d9\u05b6\u05d4 \u05dc\u05b8\u05db\u05b6\u05dd \u05d5\u05b0\u05e2\u05b4\u05e0\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05ea\u05b6\u05dd \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05e0\u05b7\u05e4\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05b9\u05ea\u05b5\u05d9\u05db\u05b6\u05dd \u05d5\u05b0\u05d4\u05b4\u05e7\u05b0\u05e8\u05b7\u05d1\u05b0\u05ea\u05bc\u05b6\u05dd \u05d0\u05b4\u05e9\u05bc\u05c1\u05b6\u05d4 \u05dc\u05b7\u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05b8\u05d4: \u05db\u05d7\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b0\u05db\u05b8\u05dc-\u05de\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05d0\u05db\u05b8\u05d4 \u05dc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05ea\u05b7\u05e2\u05b2\u05e9\u05b9\u05d5\u05bc \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e2\u05b6\u05e6\u05b6\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05d6\u05bc\u05b6\u05d4 \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d9\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05e4\u05bc\u05bb\u05e8\u05b4\u05d9\u05dd \u05d4\u05d5\u05bc\u05d0 \u05dc\u05b0\u05db\u05b7\u05e4\u05bc\u05b5\u05e8 \u05e2\u05b2\u05dc\u05b5\u05d9\u05db\u05b6\u05dd \u05dc\u05b4\u05e4\u05b0\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b1\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b5\u05d9\u05db\u05b6\u05dd: \u05db\u05d8\u00a0\u00a0 \u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05db\u05b8\u05dc-\u05d4\u05b7\u05e0\u05bc\u05b6\u05e4\u05b6\u05e9\u05c1 \u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05e8 \u05dc\u05b9\u05d0-\u05ea\u05b0\u05e2\u05bb\u05e0\u05bc\u05b6\u05d4 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05e2\u05b6\u05e6\u05b6\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05d6\u05bc\u05b6\u05d4 \u05d5\u05b0\u05e0\u05b4\u05db\u05b0\u05e8\u05b0\u05ea\u05b8\u05d4 \u05de\u05b5\u05e2\u05b7\u05de\u05bc\u05b6\u05d9\u05d4\u05b8:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><em>Vayikra \/ Leviticus 23:27-29<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em> 23:27 \u2018On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble your souls and present an offering by fire to the Lord.\u00a0 23:28 \u2018You shall not do any work on this same day, for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement on your behalf before the Lord your God.\u00a0 23:29 \u2018If there is any person who will not humble himself on this same day, he shall be cut off from his people. (NASB)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In this week\u2019s reading from the Torah (Parashat Emor) the Lord is very concerned with purity.\u00a0 The priests and the people are not be able to come before the Lord if having come in contact with the dead.\u00a0 The priest and the people are not to shave their heads, beards, or tattoo their bodies, because their bodies are holy.\u00a0 The Scriptures say the person one marries has an effect upon ones relationship with God.\u00a0 Within the context on the issue of purity and relationship with the Lord <em>Vayikra \/ Leviticus 23:27-29<\/em>, the commandment concerning the Day of atonement is given, which is on the tenth day of the seventh month of the year.\u00a0 The Scriptures say we are to guard ourselves on that day in such a way as to <em>\u201chumble our souls\u201d<\/em> and to present an offering by fire to the Lord.\u00a0 The day of atonement is a day when one comes face to face with God.\u00a0 Today in Christ we see the whole picture of God\u2019s plan for redemption, that in His Son Yeshua atonement has been made.\u00a0 Reading through these Scriptures, do they apply in any way to our lives today, the way we live, what we think, and walking humbly before our God?\u00a0 These verses describe an important aspect of the Almighty and His Holiness.\u00a0 According to the Scriptures the person who does not humble himself before the Lord will be cut off.\u00a0 In <em>1 Chronicles 7:14<\/em> we read <em>7:14 and My people who are called by My name would humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
