Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.\u201d (NASB)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>There are parallels in the Torah to the concept of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;Beware of the Leaven of Herod&#8221;<\/em><\/span> as mentioned in Mark 8:15. In the Torah, leaven is often used as a metaphor for sin and corruption. According to Deuteronomy 16:3 we read the command to eat unleavened bread during Passover emphasizing the importance of purity and obedience: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;You shall eat no leavened bread with it. Seven days you shall eat it with unleavened bread, the bread of affliction\u2014for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste\u2014that all the days of your life you may remember the day when you came out of the land of Egypt.&#8221;<\/em><\/span> These passages relate the symbolic use of leaven in the Torah to represent sin, corruption, and the need for purity, obedience, and the presence of God. Similarly, in Matthew 16:6-12, Yeshua warns His disciples to beware of the <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;leaven&#8221;<\/em><\/span> identifying the hypocritical and corrupt teachings having no place in the lives of God&#8217;s people.
