(NASB)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several parallels in the Torah to the concept of believing in God\u2019s anointed one, as mentioned in 1 John 3:23. The key examples speak to how Israel was to believe in Moshe and the priesthood. In the Torah, faith and obedience to God are central themes. Leviticus 4:3 speaks to the anointed priest who brings a sin offering. The anointed priest is seen as a mediator between God and the people. The Torah contains prophecies and foreshadowings of the coming Messiah. For instance, in Deuteronomy 18:15-18, Moshe speaks of a future prophet like himself whom the people should listen to, and that God is going to raise up a prophet like Moses from among the Israelites. This prophet is seen as an anointed leader who will speak God\u2019s words to the people. This is interpreted as a reference to Yeshua the Messiah, the anointed one of God.
