(NASB) <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The concept of not being called <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cRabbi,\u201d<\/em><\/span> as mentioned in Matthew 23:8, is indeed present in the Torah. While the Torah does not contain a direct prohibition against using the term <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;Rabbi,&#8221;<\/em><\/span> it does emphasize the importance of humility and the recognition of God as the ultimate teacher and authority. The emphasis in Matthew 23:8 was that men would use the title to feed their pride. Deuteronomy 4:2 states, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.&#8221;<\/em><\/span> This verse emphasizes the importance of not being prideful and listening to God&#8217;s teachings without adding or subtracting from them, highlighting the centrality of God as the ultimate authority. Pride can add or subtract from the Word of God.
