(NASB) <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul teaches us to be kind and to show mercy in Romans 12:10 and Ephesians 4:32. The Torah is filled with teachings about both kindness and mercy. The Torah teaches the concept of <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cgemilut hasadim\u201d<\/span><\/em> \u2013 the doing of acts of loving kindness. This is embodied in the character of Rebekah, who shows kindness to Eliezer and his camels at the well (Genesis 24:18-19). The Torah depicts God as <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cmerciful and compassionate,\u201d<\/em><\/span> and forgiving of sin. It also advocates for the rights of the poor, the widow, and the orphan. The Torah also teaches not only love of neighbor, but also love of the stranger. This is a form of kindness and mercy towards those who are different or unfamiliar. We note that the act of creation itself is seen as an act of kindness by God. This kindness is not earned, but rather is performed purely out of mercy or compassion. These things demonstrate how the concepts of kindness and mercy are deeply woven into the fabric of the Torah\u2019s teachings and the NT text.
