(NASB) <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul also instructs us to avoid <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201carguments about the Torah\u201d<\/em><\/span> in Titus 3:9. This could very well be related to the problem of understanding the place of the Torah in the life of God&#8217;s people, just like we see today. Moreover, the Torah and the rest of the Hebrew Bible stress the importance of adhering to God\u2019s commandments and teachings as part of our covenantal relationship with God. This principle underlies the Jewish understanding of the Torah as a guide for life, which is consistent with Paul\u2019s view of avoiding disputes that detract from the core spiritual and moral principles. Paul considers these arguments to be \u201cunprofitable and worthless\u201d because they distract from the central teachings of the Messiah and can lead to unnecessary disputes.
