{"id":2120,"date":"2013-03-17T11:35:22","date_gmt":"2013-03-17T11:35:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.matsati.com\/?p=2120"},"modified":"2013-03-17T11:35:22","modified_gmt":"2013-03-17T11:35:22","slug":"bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-tzav-the-priest-the-messiah-and-atonement-for-sin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-tzav-the-priest-the-messiah-and-atonement-for-sin\/","title":{"rendered":"Bits of Torah Truths, Parashat Tzav, The Priest, The Messiah and Atonement for Sin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this weeks reading from Parashat Tzav (<em>Vayikra \/ Leviticus 6:1-8:36<\/em>) the Lord speaks to Moshe saying when a person steals, cheats, or extorts another person he is to restore what he took and make restitution for it and add one-fifth more.\u00a0 Then the man is to bring his offering to the priest to make atonement before the Lord <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05db\u05d5\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b0\u05db\u05b4\u05e4\u05bc\u05b6\u05e8 \u05e2\u05b8\u05dc\u05b8\u05d9\u05d5 \u05d4\u05b7\u05db\u05bc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b5\u05df \u05dc\u05b4\u05e4\u05b0\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b9\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d5\u05b0\u05e0\u05b4\u05e1\u05b0\u05dc\u05b7\u05d7 \u05dc\u05d5\u05b9 \u05e2\u05b7\u05dc-\u05d0\u05b7\u05d7\u05b7\u05ea \u05de\u05b4\u05db\u05bc\u05b9\u05dc \u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05c1\u05b6\u05e8-\u05d9\u05b7\u05e2\u05b2\u05e9\u05b6\u05b9\u05d4 \u05dc\u05b0\u05d0\u05b7\u05e9\u05c1\u05b0\u05de\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d1\u05b8\u05d4\u05bc:<\/span> <em>6:7 and the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord, and he will be forgiven for any one of the things which he may have done to incur guilt. (NASB)<\/em>\u00a0 The <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05ea\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05e8\u05b7\u05ea<\/span> (law) of the Minchah Korban (Grain Offering, <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05de\u05e0\u05d7\u05ea \u05e7\u05d5\u05e8\u05d1\u05df<\/span>), Aaron is to present it before the Lord at the altar (<em>6:14-18<\/em>) the grain is food for the sons of Aaron.\u00a0 The <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05ea\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05e8\u05b7\u05ea<\/span> (law) of the Chatat Korban (Sin Offering, <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d7\u05d8\u05d0\u05ea \u05e7\u05d5\u05e8\u05d1\u05df<\/span>) is the it is to be eaten in the place where the burnt offering is slain before the Lord (<em>6:25<\/em>), the priest who offers it is to eat it in the court of the Tent of Meeting (<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d0\u05b9\u05d4\u05b6\u05dc \u05de\u05d5\u05b9\u05e2\u05b5\u05d3<\/span>).\u00a0 The <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05ea\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05e8\u05b7\u05ea<\/span> (law) of the Asham Korban (Guilt Offering, <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d0\u05e9\u05dd \u05e7\u05d5\u05e8\u05d1\u05df<\/span>) is to be slain in the same placed the burnt offering is slain (<em>7:1-2<\/em>).\u00a0 The fat and the kidneys are offered upon the altar for the Asham Korban (<em>7:3-5<\/em>).\u00a0 The <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05ea\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05e8\u05b7\u05ea<\/span> (law) of the Shelamim Korban (Peace Offering, <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05e9\u05dc\u05de\u05d9\u05dd \u05e7\u05d5\u05e8\u05d1\u05df<\/span>) is given (<em>7:11-13<\/em>).\u00a0 This is an offering of thanksgiving, one is to bring it with the cakes of unleavened bread and the person is to present one of every offering as a contribution to the Lord (<em>7:13-16<\/em>) and all of the flesh of the offering is to be eaten up by morning (<em>7:17-19<\/em>).\u00a0 If a person eats of the Shelamim korban while he is unclean he is to be cut off from his people (<em>7:20-21<\/em>).\u00a0 The Lord then commanded Moshe to consecrate Aaron and his sons for the service of the Lord before all of the people.\u00a0 In the process of consecration, Aaron and his sons offered up each of the five types of Korbanot (i) the Olah Korban, (ii) the Minchah Korban, (iii) the Shelamim Korban, (iv) the Chatat Korban, and (v) the Asham Korban before God (<em>8:6-36<\/em>).\u00a0 All of these offerings were commanded of the Lord to make atonement on our behalf.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><strong>\u05db\u05ea\u05d1\u05d9 \u05d4\u05e7\u05d5\u05d3\u05e9 \/ The Holy Scriptures\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right; it is most holy.\u00a0 6:26 \u2018The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. It shall be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of meeting.\u00a0 6:27 \u2018Anyone who touches its flesh will become consecrated; and when any of its blood splashes on a garment, in a holy place you shall wash what was splashed on. (NASB)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to the Scriptures from Parashat Tzav we read <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d9\u05d8\u00a0 \u05d4\u05b7\u05db\u05bc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b5\u05df \u05d4\u05b7\u05de\u05b0\u05d7\u05b7\u05d8\u05bc\u05b5\u05d0 \u05d0\u05b9\u05ea\u05b8\u05d4\u05bc \u05d9\u05b9\u05d0\u05db\u05b2\u05dc\u05b6\u05e0\u05bc\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d1\u05bc\u05b0\u05de\u05b8\u05e7\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05e7\u05b8\u05d3\u05e9\u05c1 \u05ea\u05bc\u05b5\u05d0\u05b8\u05db\u05b5\u05dc \u05d1\u05bc\u05b7\u05d7\u05b2\u05e6\u05b7\u05e8 \u05d0\u05b9\u05d4\u05b6\u05dc \u05de\u05d5\u05b9\u05e2\u05b5\u05d3:<\/span> <em>6:26 \u2018The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. It shall be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of meeting.(NASB)<\/em>\u00a0 The scriptures say that this is the Law of the sin offering, it is to be slain in the place the whole burnt offering is slain (<em>\u201cat the entrance to the tent of meeting,\u201d Vayikra \/ Leviticus 1:3<\/em>), it is most holy, anyone who touches the offering is consecrated and the priest who offers the sin offering is to eat the sin offering in a holy place.\u00a0 Later on in the book of Leviticus we learn the importance of the Sin offering according to <em>Vayikra \/ Leviticus 10:17-18<\/em>, Moshe says <em>Vayikra \/ Leviticus 10:17 \u2018Why did you not eat the sin offering at the holy place?
