(NASB) <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Here in Hebrews 12:6 the author of Hebrews quotes from Proverbs 3:11-12. This verse is based on the Torah idea that God disciplines His people as a loving father does to his children, as stated in Deuteronomy 8:5: \u201cYou shall also consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.\u201d The Torah teaches that a father has a duty to instruct and correct his son, especially in matters of Torah and mitzvot (commandments). This is part of the father\u2019s role as a teacher and a guide for his son\u2019s spiritual growth. The Torah also cautions fathers to be gentle with their sons.
