This verse is interpreted as a reference to the Messiah, who is believed to be a priest in the order of Melchizedek. The reference to Melchizedek in Psalm 110:4 is believed to be a way of connecting the Messiah to the priesthood of Melchizedek, which is seen as superior to the Levitical priesthood. Therefore, the Torah is used as a reference to establish the legitimacy of the Messiah\u2019s priesthood in the order of Melchizedek.
