{"id":2002,"date":"2013-01-20T11:25:37","date_gmt":"2013-01-20T11:25:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.matsati.com\/?p=2002"},"modified":"2013-01-20T11:25:37","modified_gmt":"2013-01-20T11:25:37","slug":"bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-beshalach-yeshua-or-yahshua-and-what-is-missed-in-the-hebrew-text","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.matsati.com\/index.php\/bits-of-torah-truths-parashat-beshalach-yeshua-or-yahshua-and-what-is-missed-in-the-hebrew-text\/","title":{"rendered":"Bits of Torah Truths, Parashat Beshalach, \u201cYeshua\u201d or \u201cYahshua\u201d and What is Missed in the Hebrew text?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This weeks reading is from Parashat Beshalach (<em>Shemot \/ Exodus 13:17-17:16<\/em>), Pharaoh let the people go, however, the Lord God did not lead the people by the way of the Philistines but into the wilderness.\u00a0 Moshe carried the bones of Joseph out of Egypt (<em>13:19<\/em>), and the Lord led the people by a pillar of cloud during the day and pillar of fire by night.\u00a0 Pharaoh\u2019s heart is hardened (<em>14:4-9<\/em>) and follows Israel to the Red Sea.\u00a0 The Lord sends a strong east wind and divides the sea so the people could cross on dry land (<em>14:15-22<\/em>).\u00a0 The Egyptian army pursued Israel and the Lord destroyed them (<em>14:23-31<\/em>).\u00a0 The people sing praise to the Name of the Lord (<em>15:1-22<\/em>).\u00a0 The people then arrive at a place called Marah (bitter) and the Lord tested them there (<em>15:23-26<\/em>).\u00a0 They travel to Elim and to the wilderness of Sin and grumble because there was no food (<em>16:1-3<\/em>).\u00a0 The Lord then gives the people bread in the morning and meat in the evening to eat (<em>16:4-16<\/em>).\u00a0 The people eat Manna for 40 years until entering into the Promised Land (<em>16:35<\/em>).\u00a0 Amalek comes to fight against Israel at Rephidim (<em>17:8<\/em>) and Israel prevails against Amalek.\u00a0 This week\u2019s reading is interesting because at two points in the text we read of the Lord\u2019s Salvation (\u05d9\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b7) in <em>Shemot \/ Exodus 14:13 and 15:2<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><em><strong>\u05db\u05ea\u05d1\u05d9 \u05d4\u05e7\u05d5\u05d3\u05e9 \/ The Holy Scriptures<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05e1\u05e4\u05e8 \u05e9\u05de\u05d5\u05ea \u05e4\u05e8\u05e7 \u05d9\u05d0<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d9\u05d2\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b9\u05bc\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05de\u05b9\u05e9\u05b6\u05c1\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b6\u05dc-\u05d4\u05b8\u05e2\u05b8\u05dd \u05d0\u05b7\u05dc-\u05ea\u05b4\u05bc\u05d9\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0\u05d5\u05bc \u05d4\u05b4\u05ea\u05b0\u05d9\u05b7\u05e6\u05b0\u05bc\u05d1\u05d5\u05bc \u05d5\u05bc\u05e8\u05b0\u05d0\u05d5\u05bc \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05d9\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b7\u05ea \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05b9\u05d5\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05b6\u05c1\u05e8-\u05d9\u05b7\u05e2\u05b2\u05e9\u05b6\u05b9\u05d4 \u05dc\u05b8\u05db\u05b6\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05db\u05b4\u05bc\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05b6\u05c1\u05e8 \u05e8\u05b0\u05d0\u05b4\u05d9\u05ea\u05b6\u05dd \u05d0\u05b6\u05ea-\u05de\u05b4\u05e6\u05b0\u05e8\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05dd \u05d4\u05b7\u05d9\u05bc\u05d5\u05b9\u05dd \u05dc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05ea\u05b9\u05e1\u05b4\u05e4\u05d5\u05bc \u05dc\u05b4\u05e8\u05b0\u05d0\u05b9\u05ea\u05b8\u05dd \u05e2\u05d5\u05b9\u05d3 \u05e2\u05b7\u05d3-\u05e2\u05d5\u05b9\u05dc\u05b8\u05dd:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d1\u00a0\u00a0 \u05e2\u05b8\u05d6\u05b4\u05bc\u05d9 \u05d5\u05b0\u05d6\u05b4\u05de\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05ea \u05d9\u05b8\u05d4\u05bc \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05b4\u05d9-\u05dc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05dc\u05b4\u05d9\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b8\u05d4 \u05d6\u05b6\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b5\u05dc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d5\u05b0\u05d0\u05b7\u05e0\u05b0\u05d5\u05b5\u05d4\u05d5\u05bc \u05d0\u05b1\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b5\u05d9 \u05d0\u05b8\u05d1\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d0\u05b2\u05e8\u05b9\u05de\u05b0\u05de\u05b6\u05e0\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05bc<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><em>Shemot \/ Exodus 14:13, 15:2<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em>14:13 But Moses said to the people, \u2018Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>15:2 \u2018The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; This is my God, and I will praise Him; My father&#8217;s God, and I will extol Him. (NASB)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the reading for this week, we learn that \u201cYeshua\u201d (<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d9\u05b0\u05e9\u05c1\u05d5\u05bc\u05e2\u05b7<\/span>) is the Lord\u2019s Salvation.\u00a0 At the red sea, Moshe declares \u201cstand and see the salvation of the Lord.\u201d\u00a0 Following their deliverance, the people sing of the Salvation of the Lord.\u00a0 In addition to this, God provides bread from heaven in <em>Shemot \/ Exodus 16:15<\/em> <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d8\u05d5\u00a0\u00a0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05bc\u05e8\u05b0\u05d0\u05d5\u05bc \u05d1\u05b0\u05e0\u05b5\u05d9-\u05d9\u05b4\u05e9\u05b0\u05b9\u05e8\u05b8\u05d0\u05b5\u05dc \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b9\u05bc\u05d0\u05de\u05b0\u05e8\u05d5\u05bc \u05d0\u05b4\u05d9\u05e9\u05c1 \u05d0\u05b6\u05dc-\u05d0\u05b8\u05d7\u05b4\u05d9\u05d5 \u05de\u05b8\u05df \u05d4\u05d5\u05bc\u05d0 \u05db\u05b4\u05bc\u05d9 \u05dc\u05b9\u05d0 \u05d9\u05b8\u05d3\u05b0\u05e2\u05d5\u05bc \u05de\u05b7\u05d4-\u05d4\u05d5\u05bc\u05d0 \u05d5\u05b7\u05d9\u05b9\u05bc\u05d0\u05de\u05b6\u05e8 \u05de\u05b9\u05e9\u05b6\u05c1\u05d4 \u05d0\u05b2\u05dc\u05b5\u05d4\u05b6\u05dd \u05d4\u05d5\u05bc\u05d0 \u05d4\u05b7\u05dc\u05b6\u05bc\u05d7\u05b6\u05dd \u05d0\u05b2\u05e9\u05b6\u05c1\u05e8 \u05e0\u05b8\u05ea\u05b7\u05df \u05d9\u05b0\u05d4\u05d5\u05b8\u05b9\u05d4 \u05dc\u05b8\u05db\u05b6\u05dd \u05dc\u05b0\u05d0\u05b8\u05db\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05d4:<\/span>\u00a0 <em>16:15 When the sons of Israel saw it, they said to one another, \u2018What is it?\u2019 For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, \u2018It is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat. (NASB)<\/em>\u00a0 This week\u2019s portion from the Hebrew text provides us with an interesting midrash on the salvation and provision of the Lord God Almighty.\u00a0 Historically we know the synagogue service in the 1st century used the weekly readings we use today.\u00a0 According to John 6:46-59, Yeshua was teaching in the Synagogue saying that He is the true bread from heaven.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><em>John 6:46-59<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<em>6:45 \u2018It is written in the prophets, \u2018And they shall all be taught of God.\u2019 Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. 6:46 \u2018Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father.\u00a0 6:47 \u2018Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.\u00a0 6:48 \u2018I am the bread of life.\u00a0 6:49 \u2018Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.\u00a0 6:50 \u2018This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. &#8230; 6:58 \u2018This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.\u2019\u00a0 6:59 These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.
