<\/i><i>(New American Standard Bible, NASB)<\/i><\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<i>31\u00a0<\/i><i>Now the <\/i><i>Lord<\/i><i> spoke to Moses, saying,<\/i><i> <sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>\u201cSee, I have called by name Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. <sup>3\u00a0<\/sup>I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, <sup>4\u00a0<\/sup>to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, <sup>5\u00a0<\/sup>and in the cutting of stones for settings, and in the carving of wood, that he may work in all kinds of craftsmanship. <sup>6\u00a0<\/sup>And behold, I Myself have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the hearts of all who are skillful I \u05e6\u05b4\u05d5\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05ea\u05b4\u05da\u05b8<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I believe <i>Exodus 31:6<\/i> says it all:\u00a0 <i>\u201c\u2026<\/i><i>and in the hearts of all who are skillful I have put skill, that they may make all that I have commanded you.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0 In Hebrew it says \u201cin the heart of all who have wisdom of heart\u201d (<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d5\u05bc\u05d1\u05b0\u05dc\u05b5\u05d1 \u05db\u05bc\u05b8\u05dc-\u05d7\u05b2\u05db\u05b7\u05dd-\u05dc\u05b5\u05d1<\/span>) \u201cI give wisdom\u201d (<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05e0\u05b8\u05ea\u05b7\u05ea\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9 \u05d7\u05b8\u05db\u05b0\u05de\u05b8\u05d4<\/span>) the word \u201cwisdom\u201d (<span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d7\u05b2\u05db\u05b7\u05dd<\/span>) is translated as \u201cskill\u201d in the NASB and NIV versions, and as \u201cwisdom\u201d in the KJV version.\u00a0 The root word here for skill is <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u05d7\u05b2\u05db\u05b7\u05dd<\/span> (wisdom) and when used as a noun or adjective has various meanings <i>\u201cwise, clever, shrewd, sage, scholar, scribe\u201d <\/i>and when used as a verb can mean <i>\u201cbecome wise or become educated.\u201d<\/i>\u00a0 The way this is worded, it looks like this is describing the kind of people who have a certain amount of natural talent and aptitude in their hearts to perform a certain task, and it is God who gives this ability (skill or wisdom).\u00a0 Since God is the author of life, and the giver of good gifts (<i>James 1:17<\/i>) all of these things certainly come from the Lord, and the Lord specifically here in the Scriptures (<em>Exodus 31:3<\/em>) filled these men with His Holy Spirit to enable them to work on the Tabernacle.\u00a0 Moses gave those men the design in a general sense, but I am certain that the final design was left to each individual\u2019s opinion on the details, the sculpting, sewing, cutting, the sizes, shapes, and layout of sculpture etc the things of the tabernacle.\u00a0 This required the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God to get it right in the way the Lord wanted.\u00a0 I do not believe that these men were totally unskilled and that God miraculously gave them skill to do these works without having any prior knowledge of craftsmanship.<\/p>\n<p>MATSATI
